My Go-To Activewear Recommendations (And The Dupes That Actually Hold Up)

I’m pretty picky when it comes to activewear.
If it rides up, falls down, shows sweat in weird places or makes you feel like a sausage — it’s out.
I want pieces I can train in, run in, wear to coffee in… and not think about.
So these are my current ride-or-dies (and the dupes I swear by).
#1 on the Activewear Recommendations: The Tank I Wear For Literally Everything
You already know this one.
Size small. Doesn’t move. Holds everything in.
Running, HYROX, lifting, coffee — it just works.
The Straight Leg Leggings Dupe I Tell Everyone About
These are the ones I have in every colour.
If they can make my pancake bum look good, I’m not gatekeeping that.
They’re not a “premium” brand, but they may as well be. They feel as good as Lulu in my opinion for a fraction of the price.
The Winter Staple You’ll Live In (Dupe Edition)
That perfect in-between layer when it’s:
too cold for a sports bra
too hot for a jumper
Throw it on → instantly look put together.
This is a non-negotiable in winter. It's like skims, but again, half the price.

The Running Shorts I Always Reach For
lululemon Shake It Out High-Rise Running Short 2.5"
$89.00•lululemon
These are my go-to running shorts.
They sit high, don’t dig in, and look like a fun and flattering skirt! My favourite shorts no doubt.
They’ve got:
a stay-put waistband (no adjusting mid run 🙏)
hidden storage (key/gel = sorted)
a lightweight, floaty feel that doesn’t cling
Basically they’re made for running but still look good enough to wear to coffee after.
And that’s always the test.
The Reality Of “Essentials”
You don’t need 50 sets.
You need:
1–2 really good tanks
a few reliable leggings
a winter throw-on
a pair of shorts you trust on a run
That’s it. Preferably my activewear recommendations 😉
My Honest Rule
If I wouldn’t wear it:
to train
to run
AND to coffee after
…it doesn’t make the cut.
Quick Comparison
Piece | Best for | Why I love it |
Tank | Everything | Supportive, doesn’t move |
Leggings dupe | Everyday + gym | Affordable, flattering |
Winter top | Layering for runs & gym in winter | Affordable, easy, put-together look |
lululemon Shake It Out Shorts | Running | Light, flattering, zero fuss |
Final Thoughts
You don’t need to overhaul your wardrobe.
Just upgrade the pieces that matter.
A good tank + solid leggings + one winter staple + a pair of shorts you trust = done.
Everything else is extra.
